The City Clerk is the official record keeper for the City of Newaygo. The Clerk also has the duties of facilitating official meetings and board and commission appointments, and assists the public in accessing public documents and information. The Clerk administers elections and voter registration in accordance with State and Federal Law.

Military and Overseas Civilian Voters
There are certain special services provided for voters who are active duty military and/or overseas. The following information will be of help to military and overseas voters who wish to participate in various elections.
How to Register to vote: Go to the Federal Voting Assistance Program website, download and complete a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). The FPCA can also be used to obtain an absent voter ballot by e-mail, fax or regular mail.
How to obtain an absent voter ballot by email, fax, or regular mail: Go to the Federal Voting Assistance Program website, download and complete a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). Check the appropriate box for e-mail, fax or mail. The FPCA can also be used to register to vote.
How to take advantage of discounted mailing costs for overseas voters: Go to the Overseas Vote Foundation website. Click on "Express Your Vote" and follow instructions.

Upcoming 2017 Elections and Dates
The City of Newaygo will be holding the City General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 in the City Hall Council Chambers. On the ballot will be the office of Mayor (two year term) and three Council member positions (four year terms). The last day to register for this November Election will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
If you are wondering if you are registered to vote you can check by going to www.michigan.gov/vote and put in your information. This site will tell you if you registered to vote and where.
Remember to bring your ID to the polls when voting and new this year is if you come to City Hall and request an AV ballot you will now be required to show a photo ID or sign an affidavit. We look forward to serving you on election day!
Register to Vote
To qualify to be registered as an elector in the State of Michigan you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age by Election Day and a resident of the community for 30 days prior to the election. You may register to vote by utilizing the Voter Registration Form and submitting it to the City Clerk, 28 State Rd, Newaygo, MI 49337, or you may register in person at any Secretary of State office.

Become An Election Inspector!
If you are interested in working any given election, please feel free to click the link below, print out the "Election Inspector Application" and return it to City Hall. Election inspectors have to go through a four hour training and then you are certified for two years. We, at the City, usually run two shifts per election, the first shift is 6:30 am to 1:30 pm and the second shift is 1:30 pm until polls close and all paperwork is done and completed. It's a great way to meet people, get involved AND you get paid!
